History

NameHolmiumPlatinum
HistoryThe element Holmium was discovered by J.-L. Soret in year 1878 in Switzerland. Holmium derived its name from Holmia, the New Latin name for Stockholm. The element Platinum was discovered by A. de Ulloa in year 1748 in Peru. Platinum derived its name from the Spanish platina, meaning 'little silver'.
