My Experience at St Columba’s College: A Living Nightmare Disguised as Education

My Experience at St Columba’s College: A Living Nightmare Disguised as Education In my honest and painful opinion, St Columba’s College is a disgrace to the concept of education. This institution didn’t just fail me—it actively harmed me. My time there left deep psychological scars and played a significant role in shaping a nihilistic worldview I still wrestle with today. The teachers, many of whom I can only describe as apathetic and utterly unfit for their roles, showed a shocking lack of empathy and professionalism. They were not educators—they were cold, dismissive, and in some cases, downright cruel. I was regularly humiliated by staff, particularly Miss Northmore, who seemed to relish in shaming students instead of supporting them. The student culture was no better. I was routinely bullied and treated inhumanely by my peers. My personal belongings were stolen multiple times—students broke into my locker with impunity—and the school did absolutely nothing to hold anyone accountable. There were never consequences, only silence and indifference. At the time, I was suffering from abuse in my personal life. I came to school carrying that weight every day, hoping someone might notice or care. No one did. Not a single teacher or staff member took the time to ask if I was okay, despite the obvious signs. The failure to recognise and respond to a student in distress is unforgivable. To say the school lacked pastoral care would be an understatement. There was no support, no fairness, no humanity. Just systemic negligence wrapped in a Catholic school uniform. And there’s more. During my time there, I personally attended classes with two students from well-known organised crime families. St Columba’s College has disturbing connections to criminal elements, and yet this, too, was swept under the rug. I urge you, with everything in me: do not send your children to this school. St Columba’s is not a place of growth or safety—it is the embodiment of everything that can go wrong in an educational institution. For me, it was not just a bad experience. It was a personal hell.

Review is based on my personal experience

We joined my son to Lawrence school ooty by seeing their infrastructure but according to their academic the school is not good .we paid so much fee for them and they are not teaching anything . I joined my son in 5 th standard till 9 th they dint even say a word to us about his performance in the school ..he was not studying his marks was not up to the mark . After 9 th they Head master personally called us and told that your son is not good in studies so we don't want him to continue 10 th in our school. We already paid the fees for 10th and we thought he will be continuing his 10 th in the same school. They literally throwed us from the school suddenly. In 9 th they are literally throwing weak studies from the school . This is how they are getting 100percent result in 10 th . The fee is too high and even seniors treat juniors like slaves the management won't take any action . This is my honest review what i have gone through in 2025.

its meh

Newington :)

Newington is the greatest school ever. My two children (both have graduated) had an incredible experience. I could not truthfully reccoment any other school for parents looking to send their children to a great and welcoming school.

horrible experience

Shaping Young Minds with Compassion and Creativity

I’m proud of how this institution focuses on teaching kids about society and helping others. Things like the Van Mahotsava Rally and visits to the Blind School have had a real impact on my child—they’re more involved and care about social causes now. It’s not just about the academics, either. The creative learning approach, mixed with these meaningful initiatives, has helped shape my child into a more thoughtful, responsible person. I’m truly impressed with what they’ve accomplished here.

Charming and nurturing school learning environment for all

Scarborough Public School (NSW) is a wonderful, nurturing school. The principal, teachers and support staff genuinely care and are always going above and beyond to provide for and enrich the lives of each student in every aspect as best as they can. The school community are particularly exceptional at providing additional support when students and families need it, which is really rare in larger schools and something the primary public schooling system in NSW lacks overall. Kids who attend this school are given an array of opportunities from a curriculum perspective and, it's just a beautiful school to visit. The playgound and learning spaces are delightful and welcoming for all. Love this little school and highly recommend it to other families whom might live in the area.

Concern Regarding Morning Incident at Bellbridge Primary School Car Park

I am writing to express my concern regarding an incident that occurred this morning at Bellbridge Primary School. Due to significant traffic congestion and the very limited parking options around the school, I briefly parked in the school’s open car park—just for a few minutes—to safely drop off my child. The school car park was open at the time, and my understanding is that it remains accessible until 9:00 PM. However, while I was away for less than five minutes, the school principal—who was wearing a pink high-visibility vest—saw my car parked and immediately ran to lock the gates without giving me any warning or attempting to speak with me. When I returned, I discovered that my car had been locked inside the car park. Another parent was also affected in the same way, with her vehicle similarly locked in. When I approached the principal to ask for the gate to be reopened, his response was not only dismissive but also sarcastic. He stated, “We don’t provide a traffic control service,” and added mockingly, “Should we start controlling public traffic too?” I found this behaviour highly inappropriate, especially coming from someone in a leadership role responsible for setting an example within a school community. I appreciate that schools are not responsible for managing public traffic, but the approach taken was unnecessarily confrontational and lacked basic courtesy. Rather than engage in a respectful conversation, the principal acted in a punitive and unprofessional manner. Eventually, he did open the gate, but only after making me feel as though he was doing me a favour—despite the fact that I was put in that situation due to his own actions. I am concerned about the message this kind of behaviour sends to our children. If the school’s leadership demonstrates impatience, sarcasm, and a lack of empathy, it raises serious questions about the behaviour standards being modelled and taught to students. I respectfully request that the school review how situations like this are handled in the future and ensure that communication with parents is conducted in a respectful and solution-focused manner.

Lowood

Horrible behaviour.
