NEET 2020: about NTA NEET UG, Pattern, Counselling Date & Admission | NEET Result 2020

For the admission in academic session 2020-21, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has conduct the NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY CUM ENTRANCE TEST (UG) 2020  (NEET 2020) entrance test throughout the country on 13 September 2020 and on 14 October, 2020 for COVID-19 Candidates for the admissions to MBBS & BDS courses in India. The result was be declared on NTA website on 16 Oct 2020. NEET (UG) 2020 is a Pen & Paper-based test, to be answered on the specially designed machine gradable sheet using Ball Point Pen.

Till 2018, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) was conducting the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET). Please note admission to AIIMS is through AIIMS Entrance Exam and JIPMER is through JIPMER MBBS Exam.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (UG) – 2020 throughout the country on 13 September, 2020 and 14 October, 2020 (COVID-19 cases) in 155 Cities and 3862 Centres and 110 Cities and 110 Centres respectively.

In NEET 2019, A total of 7,97,042 candidates have been qualified for the admission out of total 14,10,755 who had appeared for the exam. Of the total qualified students, 4,45,761 are girls, and 3,51,278 boys, and three are transgenders. The exam was conducted in 10 languages including Hindi, English, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Tamil, Oriya, Kannada and Telugu. NEET Counselling Dates 2020-21 – For Shortlisted Candidates in NEET 2020 exam

Counselling for seats under 15% All India Quota

The Counselling for successful candidates under 15% All India Quota seats and all seats of Deemed Universities/Central Universities/Seats of Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) & AFMC including Delhi University (DU), BHU, AMU, and AIIMS & JIPMER will be conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee of Directorate General of Health Services, Govt. of India(MCC/DGHS) for Undergraduate Medical Courses.

Counselling and admission other than 15% All India Seats

The counselling for admission to the seats under the control of other States/Universities/Institutions shall be conducted as per the notifications issued separately by the authorities concerned.

For State quota and other seats falling under the ambit of States, candidates may apply to their domicile states and merit list as per State rules and based on All India Rank will be prepared by concerned Counselling Authorities. The counselling for Private Medical Colleges will also be conducted by the concerned State Counselling Authority.

Candidates wishing to apply for admission in State Medical Colleges/Universities/Institutions using merit list of NEET – 2020 shall follow the instructions of the State Government and/or authorities of the medical/dental colleges/Institution/University concerned for counselling.

NEET 2020 Answer Key Objection

The answer key for NEET 2019 was released on September 26, 2020, at ntaneet.nic.in. National Testing Agency is now providing the facility to challenge the Answer Key uploaded on website.

This facility is available from 27.09.2020 (2.00 PM) to 29.09.2020 (2.00 PM). The Candidates are required to pay online a sum of Rs. 1000/- (one thousand only) as processing fee for each question challenged.

NEET Merit List 2020- NEET 2020 Rank List

On the release of the score card of NEET 2019 result and All India Rank , state authorities will prepare and give their merit list. Based on the ranks student gets in the state wise and all over India, colleges will give admission for MBBS & BDS courses.

  1. NTA will provide All India Rank.
  2. Result will be given to the DGHS, Ministry of Health and Family welfare, Govt of India to provide the same to the Admitting Authorities.
  3. Admitting Authorities will invite applications for Counselling and merit list will be drawn based on All India Rank by the Admitting Authorities subject to their applicable rules.

About NTA NEET 2020 Exam and colleges

NEET (UG) 2020 will be conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to MBBS and BDS Courses in Indian Medical/Dental Colleges and other undergraduate medical courses in approved/recognized Medical/Dental & other Colleges/ Institutes in India under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.

National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) is a common and uniform exam for admission to the undergraduate medical courses in all medical institutions including those governed under any other law. Thus, the admission to MBBS course in All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Education & Research (JIPMER) and all AIIMS like Institutions will also be made through NEET (UG).

The responsibility of the NTA is limited to the conduct of the entrance examination, declaration of result and for providing an “All India Rank merit list” to the

  • Directorate General Health Service, Government of India for the conduct of counselling for 15% All India Quota Seats and all seats of Deemed Universities/Central Universities/ESIC & AFMC including Delhi University (DU), BHU & AMU and
  • for supplying the result to States/other Counselling Authorities.

Pattern of NEET UG Exam 2020

The NEET UG will be conducted through one paper containing 180 objective type questions from Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology). Refer to below table for more information on Pattern of NEET Exam. Exam pattern is same as NEET UG 2019.

National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test NEET (UG) – 2020 will be conducted on 3rd May, 2020 (Sunday) from 02:00 p.m. to 05:00 p.m. The duration of test will be three (03) hours.

Seats To Be Filled Through NEET-UG Are Classified In The Following Categories:

Admissions to all seats of MBBS/BDS courses will be done through NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY CUM ENTRANCE TEST (UG), 2020 . The seats are classified in the following categories:

  • All India Quota Seats
  • State Government Quota Seats
  • Central Institutions/Universities/Deemed Universities
  • State/Management/NRI Quota Seats in Private Medical / Dental /Ayurveda /Siddha /Unani/Homeopathy Colleges or any Private University
  • State/Management/NRI Quota Seats in Private Medical/ Dental Colleges or any Private/ Deemed University
  • Central Pool Quota Seats
  • All seats including NRI Quota as well as Management Quota, in private unaided/aided minority / non- minority medical colleges

NEET 2020 Eligibility Criteria – NEET UG

Eligibility for appearing in NEET (UG) is as stipulated in Indian Medical Council Act-1956 and the Dentists Act-1948 as amended in 2018.

  1. He/she has completed age of 17 years at the time of admission or will complete the age on or before 31st December of the year of his/her admission to the 1st year MBBS/BDS Course and other undergraduate courses.
  2. The upper age limit for NEET (UG) is 25 years as on the date of examination with relaxation of 5 years for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC-NL category and persons entitled for reservation under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.
  3. The Age criteria for appearing in NEET (UG), 2020 is as follows:
    1. For Candidates of Unreserved Category (UR) & General EWS : born on or between 31.12.2003
    2. For Candidates of SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwD Category: born on or between 31.12.2003
  4. Indian Citizens/ Overseas Citizens of India intending to pursue MBBS/ BDS from a foreign Medical/ Dental Institute also need to qualify NEET (UG).

NEET has become the first Global Entrance Examination in the country. Following were allowed to appear in NEET-UG, 2020:

  • Indian Nationals
  • Non Resident Indians (NRIs)
  • Overseas Citizen of India (OCIs)
  • Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) &
  • Foreign Nationals

Eligibility for 15% All India Quota Seats

Indian Nationals, Non Resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizen of India (OCI), Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) and Foreign Nationals are eligible for 15% All India Quota Seats.

NEET UG 2020 Application Process : How to Apply

for NEET UG 2020, Candidates can apply ONLY ONLINE.

  1. Submission of Online Application Form may be done by accessing NTA website www.nta.ac.in / www.ntaneet.nic.in only.
  2. Candidates must follow the instructions strictly as given in the Information Bulletin and on NTA website. Candidates not complying with the instructions shall be disqualified.
  3. Instructions for submitting online application and payment of fee are available on website.
  4. Candidates can pay the fee in the following manner:
    1. Through any Debit/Credit Card
    2. Net Banking/UPI or
    3. e – wallets of different service provider

NEET 2020 Seats – Number of seats in NEET 2020

An All India merit list consisting of the qualified candidates will  be prepared on the basis of the marks obtained in the NEET (UG) exam. Candidates will be admitted to MBBS and BDS courses based on the list as per the existing reservation policy.

Note: Admission to MBBS/BDS Courses within the respective categories will be based only on marks obtained in the NEET exam.

As per the information available on Medical Council of India (MCI) & Dental Council of India (DCI) websites, there are 470 medical colleges with approximately 65,170 seats of MBBS and nearly 25,730 seats for BDS are available in 308 Dental colleges. 5% seats of the annual sanctioned intake shall be filled by candidates falling under Persons with Bench Mark disabilities as per MCI Guidelines/ Regulations in accordance with the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.

Admission in State Medical Colleges/Universities/Institutions/private medical colleges for seats other than 15% All India Quota

Admission under State Quota Seats shall be subject to reservation policy and eligibility criteria prevailing in the State/Union Territory

Admission to Deemed Universities/Central Universities/Seats of ESIC and AFMC including BHU & AMU

Admission to Deemed Universities/Central Universities/ESIC including DELHI UNIVERSITY (DU), BHU & AMU will be conducted by DGHS and reservation policy will be as per rules and regulations of the concerned University or Institution. Candidates should register on MCC website for admission to Deemed / Central University/ ESIC and AFMC.

Admission to AFMC, Pune shall be subject to the norms prescribed by the Directorate General of Armed Forces Medical Services, Ministry of Defence, Government of India. Candidates who apply for NEET (UG) – 2020 and/or for seeking admission in AFMC will also have to apply to AFMC on www.afmc.nic.in/www.afmcdg1d.gov.in.

Based on cutoff marks and cutoff percentile in CBSE NEET 2018 result, candidates will be shortlisted for the further process for admission into MBBS & BDS courses 2018. There will be state wise cutoff based on the respective category.
