History

NamePlatinumRutherfordium
HistoryThe element Platinum was discovered by A. de Ulloa in year 1748 in Peru. Platinum derived its name from the Spanish platina, meaning 'little silver'.The element Rutherfordium was discovered by A. Ghiorso,M. Nurmia,J. Harris,K. Eskola and P. Eskola in year 1969 in Russia and United States. Rutherfordium derived its name from Ernest Rutherford, chemist and physicist.
