The motto of Rashtriya Military School is 'Sheelam Param Bhushanam' which means 'character is the highest virtue'. It is a Coeducational Boarding School, which serves the educational needs of hundreds of students from VI through XII. The classes in Rashtriya Military School for every academic year begins in April and ends in March.
Rashtriya Military School, Dholpur was the fifth and the youngest of the five Rashtriya Military School. The school is housed in Kesarbagh palace, the mansion of the former ruler of the erstwhile Dholpur State.
The school buildings are located on two adjacent hills, the one on Kesarbagh is the Academic Building, and the hostel and residences are located on the other hill.
Brief History of Rashtriya Military Schools
The British as part of their welfare schemes established King George Royal Indian Military Schools (KGRIMS) which was later known as King George Royal Military College (KGRIMC). Two schools came into existence after the First World War. The KGRIMS at Jhelum (now in Pakistan) and KGRIMS at Jalandhar were the first two such institutions to be established in 1925. The KGRIMS Ajmer was established in 1930. The above institutions were re-designated to KGRIMC in 1945 and two more institutions were established namely KGRIMC Belgaum in 1945 and KGRIMC Bangalore in 1946.
KGRIMC Jalandhar shifted to Nowgong in Madhya Pradesh. In 1952, these institutions at Nowgong, Ajmer, Belgaum and Bangalore were re-designated to King Georges School (KGS). The school at Nowgong shifted to Chail near Shimla in Himachal Pradesh in 1960. In 1962 the fifth school started at Dholpur in Rajasthan.
In Jan 1966 these institutions were re-designated as Military Schools and on 25th June 2007 as Rashtriya Military Schools.
Rashtriya Military Schools are CBSE affiliated residential school for boys studying in class VI to XII. The school prepares the cadets for All India Senior School Certificate Examination and for joining defence forces as officers. All RMS, under the direct control of Directorate General of Military Training (DGMT), are Category 'A' military training institutes at par with Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC) and National Defence Academy.

Admission Process and Entrance Examination
Students are not admitted directly to the school. Students aged between 10-11 appear in CET for all military schools, followed by interviews and medical examinations to join the school according to the merit list

- Admit Cards and results will be hosted on RMSs website www.rashtriyamilitaryschools.edu.in and https://apply-delhi.nielit.gov.in/ on internet and can be downloaded.
- Candidates who clear the CET and are figuring in the merit list will be required to appear for Interview at respective Rashtriya Military Schools.
- Final merit list will be prepared after the Interview.
- Shortlisted candidates based on cumulative score of CET and interview will have to undergo medical exam at Military Hospitals as nominated by the Director General of Medical Services prior to admission.
- Only those candidates found medically fit will be offered admission.
Entrance Examination
Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission to class VI and IX in December and is automated OMR based. The CET will consist of subjects as mentioned below

Reservation of Seats
- 70% of seats are reserved for the wards of JCOs, OR in Army, Navy, and Air Force including ex-servicemen.
- 30% for wards of Officers of Army, Navy and AF (including retired Officers) and wards of civilians.
- 10 seats are reserved for wards of service personnel Killed in Action.
Note: 15% and 7.5% seats are reserved for SC and ST in all categories.
Admission to Class XI
Admission to Class XI will be based on Class x board exam results. No written exam will be held for admission to class XI.
