The exam will be conducted in 10 languages including Hindi, English, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Tamil, Oriya, Kannada and Telugu. Around 11.38 lakh candidates appeared for the exam held in 103 cities across 1921 centres.

As per the Indian Medical Council Act-1956 as amended in 2018 and the Dentists Act-1948 as amended in 2018, National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (UG) [NEET UG] will be conducted by the CBSE. Through NEET candidates can take admission to MBBS or BDS Courses in India in Medical and Dental Colleges approved by the Medical Council of India or Dental Council of India under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. Please note institutions established through an Act of Parliament e.g. AIIMS and JIPMER Puducherry conduct their own exams. CBSE is only responsible for conducting the entrance exam, declaring the results and providing the results to state/other Counselling Authorities.
For past few weeks, students were very anxious because of rumours related to syllabus change. However, last week CBSE has clarified that there will be no changes in the syllabus for 2018 exam and students have to follow 2017 exam pattern. Refer to Syllabus section for more information.

Admissions to all seats of MBBS/BDS courses will be done through NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY CUM ENTRANCE TEST (UG), 2018 . The seats are classified in the following categories:
Eligibility for appearing in NEET-UG is as stipulated in Indian Medical Council Act-1956/Regulations as amended in 2018 and the Dentists Act-1948/Regulations as amended in 2018.
NEET has become the first Global Entrance Examination in the country. Following were allowed to appear in NEET-UG, 2018:
Indian Nationals, Non Resident Indians (NRIs), Oversees Citizen of India (OCIs), Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) & Foreign Nationals are eligible for 15% All India Quota Seats.
The candidates will have to enter their AADHAAR number, name, date of birth & gender and give their consent to CBSE to validate the information provided by them with the UIDAI’s data base at the time of filling application form NEET(UG), 2018.
The candidate will not be able to fill the application form of NEET(UG), 2018, if these particulars do not match. Therefore, the candidates are advised to ensure that their AADHAAR card has correct details of their name, date of birth & gender as per school records. If there is some mismatch in these details, the candidates should immediately get it corrected in AADHAAR data or school records, as the case may be.
for NEET UG 2018, Candidates can apply ONLY ONLINE.
An All India merit list consisting of the qualified candidates will be prepared on the basis of the marks obtained in the NEET (UG) exam. Candidates will be admitted to MBBS and BDS courses based on the list as per the existing reservation policy.
Note: Admission to MBBS/BDS Courses within the respective categories will be based only on marks obtained in the NEET exam.
As per the information available on Medical Council of India (MCI) & Dental Council of India (DCI) websites, there are 470 medical colleges with approximately 65,170 seats of MBBS and nearly 25,730 seats for BDS are available in 308 Dental colleges.
