The foundation stone for the the medical college was laid on 23rd October 1996 by the Hon’ble Chief Minister Sh. Virbhadra Singh.The College is in Tanda which is 4kms from Kangra.

The first batch of students was admitted in 1999. From academic session 2012-13 admission capacity was increased from 50 to 100 seats. The attached Dr. Rajendera Prasad Medical College Hospital  to the Dr. Rajendra Prasad Govt. Medical College, Tanda (Kangra) medical colleges has 500 beds, and is functional from 2rd Dec 2007.

The Academic session and vacations at Dr. RPGMC college Kangra are as follows

MBBS Admission Procedure and Eligibility for Admission – MBBS Course 2024 - 2025

The admission to Dr. Rajendar Prasad Government Medical College Tanda Kangra H.P. MBBS course will be through NEET UG exam. Admission to MBBS Courses in India in Medical Colleges approved by MCI is through NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY CUM ENTRANCE TEST (UG) [NEET (UG)] except for the institutions established through an Act of Parliament e.g. AIIMS and JIPMER Puducherry. As per regulations framed under the Indian Medical Council Act and the Dentists Act, NEET UG will be conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), for admission to MBBS and BDS Courses in India in Medical and Dental Colleges recognised and approved by Medical Council of India and Dental Council of India under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.

Admission to all MBBS seats of Dr. Rajendar Prasad Government Medical College Tanda Kangra H.P. and other Medical colleges in Himachal Pradesh state is purely on the basis of merit. Candidates who have appeared in the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) and have cleared the NEET UG Exam conducted in the current academic year based on the NEET result are eligible for the admission. A Person will clear the NEET exam if marks obtained by the candidate are equal to or more than qualifying cut off marks. MBBS Admission Procedure Post Declaration of the NEET Exam result

  • Department of Medical Education and Research, Government of Himachal Pradesh or the body nominated by the department will release the official notification for seeking applications along with the detailed procedure and schedule
  • Candidate who want to apply for Medical courses in Himachal Pradesh colleges have to apply online on the website of admission committee for the consideration of his candidature. Candidates have to submit the application or admission form within the time line released by the committee.
  • The department/Committee will prepare the result/merit list based on the NEET Score and other criterias. The merit list will be available on the website.
  • After declaration of merit list, selected candidates will be called for document verification and counselling/admission.
  • The department/Committee conducts two 2 rounds of counseling/ Seat Allocation and 1 MOP up admission

Admission to All India Quota UG seats

All government colleges have 15% of total seats for ALL India Quota. Online counselling for these seats would be conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee of the Directorate General of Health Services. RPGMC Tanda PG Admision Procedure

Medical Post Graduate Courses and PG Diploma Courses – Admission Procedure

As per Section (10) of Indian Medical Council Act 1956, Admission to various MD/MS and PG Diploma Courses in Medical Colleges approved by MCI in India is through NEET PG. National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test PG (NEET-PG) is the single eligibility cum entrance examination for admission to Postgraduate Medical Courses and PG Diploma Courses (MD/MS/PG Diploma Courses) in India.

Admission to PG courses of AIIMS, PGIMER, SGPGIMS, NIMHANS and JIPMER is not through NEET PG exam. Know more about NEET PG exam. Know about AIIMS Admission Procedure and JIPMER Admission procedure.

Please note state government, private dental college and universities including the states of Jammu & Kashmir, Telangana & Andhra Pradesh will NOT be conducting any separate entrance exam for admission to their MD/MS/PG Diploma Courses for the academic session 2024 - 2025.

The following Medical institutions are not covered by centralized admissions for MD/MS seats through NEET-PG:

LAST WEEK, I WENT TO TANDA HOSPITAL. I WAS SUFFERING FROM STOMACH ACHE . FIRSTLY I MADE CARD, AFTER THAT I WAS WAITING FOR DOCTOR. DOCTOR WAS NOT PRESENT. BUT I REQUESTED, THEN WARDEN, REFERRED TO ME ANOTHER DOCTOR. HIS PROFESSION WAS VERY careless . I WAS SUFFER FROM LITTLE ABDOMEN PAIN BUT HE CHECKED ME PHYSICALLY. THEN HE SAID, YOU ARE SUFFERED FROM appendix i was shocked. then my friend said, we will take medicine from local doctor. then we moved and Took medicine from another outsider doctor. finally we came to Chandigarh, i was fine. then for my satisfaction, i went to hospital, and i was perfect. so guys, i request you to please do not visit this hospital. i will update the scan copy of my card as soon as possible.

Services offered are good . Building structure is good but need some improvements like person visiting first time find difficult to find the desired OPD or Lab rooms. Power cuts are often seen after some intervals of time. Hope problem of power cuts will solved soon. Long Que's are also seen on billing counter and in from of test labs. Last point here also some people are treated as VIP as among other govt offices. Distribution of test reports is also very hectic, which also need huge improvement.

As i read all comments . I am little bit surprised with management team who provide facility like (Canteen, drinking water and cleaning deptt) that had gone there standard with in few years. So that all rural peoples are facing problem in such services. ,,,, If this is possible to improvement in such services then every things will good for all.,,,,,,,,,,Rather then all is good.
