The Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of West Bengal will be conducting Admission to UG Medical Professional courses and NEET UG Counselling for admission in Medical and Dental Courses (MBBS and BDS) in West Bengal Medical and Dental Colleges to academic year 2018-2019 and will publish Merit List, Ranks and other UG Medical admission process. 

Online Counseling will be conducted by West Bengal Medical Counseling committee (WBMCC). The counseling for admission to MBBS and BDS courses will be on the basis of NEET UG Result 2018 declared by the CBSE, New Delhi and other parameters /criteria mentioned by the Government for the West Bengal State. Admission Committee will conduct Counseling for the West Bengal state Quota Seats/Government Seats and Private Management Quota seats in Medical and Dental Colleges in West Bengal for MBBS and BDS courses. Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) organises National Eligibility and Entrance Test Medical Entrance Exam Under Graduate (NEET-UG) every year for admission to any graduate medical course in government or private medical colleges. Admission UG courses MBBS and BDS to All India Medical and Dental Colleges approved and recognised by MCI and DCI is through NEET UG.

For the admission in academic session 2018-19, the CBSE conducted the NEET (UG) 2018 entrance test on 7th May 2018. NEET UG 2018 result was announced on June 2018. As part of the NEET UG result CBSE provides marks scored and All India Rank (Percentile secured) to the candidates.

UG Medical and Dental Seats in West Bengal

UG Seats in Government and Government Aided colleges in West Bengal

Of the total MBBS and BDS courses seats available in Medical and Dental colleges in West Bengal for admission in 2018-19 in Government and Government Aided MCI and DCI approved colleges, following is the distribution of seats

All India Quota 15% of total Seats in the colleges
  • Indian Nationals, Non Resident Indians (NRIs), Oversees Citizen of India (OCIs), Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) & Foreign Nationals are eligible for 15% All India Quota Seats.
  • Online counselling would be conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee of the Directorate General of Health Services for these seats. Information for online counselling would only be available on Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) website (www.mcc.nic.in).
State Quota remaining 85% seats  The counselling of 85% seats state quota will be conducted by the state medical counselling authority in case of West Bengal by West Bengal Medical Counseling Commitee. (wbmcc.nic.in)

Admission under 85% State Quota Seats shall be subject to reservation policy and eligibility criteria prevailing in the State/Union Territory

Eligibility Criteria for admission to West Bengal Medical and Dental Colleges - UG Courses MBBS & BDS

  1. Be a Citizen of India
    • Students applying for NRI seat should be Non Resident Indian or children of a non resident Indian
  2. Should be of atleast 17 years of age on the 31st December of the academic year for which the admission are being conducted
  3. Candidate should have resided in West Bengal for 10 years continuously as on 31st Dec 2017 or candidates who are not residing in West Bengal but whose parents permanent residence is West Bengal

Counseling Fee online

  • for Unreserved candidates - Rs 2,000
  • for SC/ST/OBC A/OBC B/PH - Rs. 1,500
  1. Registration through Online Application, Confirmation of Category, domicile and Online Fee Payment by Candidate - Candidate who want to apply for Medical and Dental courses in West Bengal colleges have to apply online on the website of admission committee for the consideration of his candidature within the time line released by the committee.Keep the receipt/confirmation received online after submitting application safe with you for future reference.Refer user manual for detailed process with screenshot http://www.wbmcc.nic.in
  2. Choice Filling and Locking of choices - Candidates have to indicate their order of choices of courses and colleges online. The choices submitted and saved by you will be locked by the system at 4.00 PM of the last date of locking.
  3. Process of Seat Allotment in Round 1 - Admission committee shall prepare merit list as per the rule for the eligible candidates who have applied using the application form released by the West Bengal Medical Counseling committee.
  4. Round 1 Result Publication - The Merit list will be displayed on the website of the admission commitee you can also check here. Result for round 1 are out  WB Seat Allotment Result Round-1 
  5. Reporting for Admission at the allotted Medical/Dental College against 1st Round
  6. Publication of net vacant seats adding seats if returning vacant from AIQ seats or any other seat getting permission from MCI/DCI/GOI ( in the phase between publication of seat matrix for Round 1 and 2 of West Bengal State Quota and Private Management Quota counseling 2018). Documents to be submitted with the registration form

Candidates have to produce original documents and self attested photocopies for admission to under-graduate medical and dental courses for admission to West Bengal State Quota seats and Private management quota seats of the following documents

  1. Admit Cards of Exam issued by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
  2. Result/ Rank letter issued by CBSE.
  3. Date of Birth Certificate or Class 10 Certificate/Class 10 admit card as Age Proof
  4. Class 10 Certificate and Class 10+2 Certificate ( May be relaxed if candidate passed in 2018)
  5. Class 10+2 Marks Sheet
  6. Provisional allotment letter generated on-line. (www.wbmcc.ac.in)
  7. Proof of identity
  8. Medical Certificate from Registered Allopathic Medical Practitioner
  9. FINAL VERIFICATION SLIP generated online from www.wbmcc.nic.in for State Quota document verified candidates or Slip showing online payment proof during the pre counseling phase in West Bengal for candidates eligible for Private Management quota seats only.
  10. Caste certificates if applicable

Bond Criteria

The bond amount is Rs. one Lakh only for state Govt. of West Bengal Institutions.

Refer to below table for the revised pre counseling and counseling schedule for admission to UG medical and dental courses in West Bengal Colleges for academic year 2018-19 as released on 15 June 2018. Please not this Pre counseling and counseling schedule is for candidates who have qualified NEET UG 2018 and wants to apply for UG Medical and Dental seats under West Bengal State Quota and Private Management Quota seats
