Coughing at night may result in bad sleep which might cause irritation among kids affecting their moods and surroundings. There can be various reasons for coughing so it is always advised to consult a doctor if things doesn’t seems right. But here is some of the tips that you can follow and take precautions or a first step in controlling the cough.
1. Adjusting the Bed angle - By making the head of the bed incline can do the trick. It can be easily done by adjusting some pillows below the head of your kid which will help to elevate the area where they rest their head.
2. Provide Steam – Steam helps to open up nose blockage and provide great comfort. Taking steam before sleep will be much effective.
3. Intake of honey - Honey can be an effective cough suppressant. Also drinking tea or warm lemon water mixed with honey is a way to relax a sore throat.
4. Chest Rub (Vicks Vaporub) -It is recommended for child above 2 years as massage from Vicks VapoRub on their chest can provide them relaxation.
5. Gargling – It is advised to make kids gargle twice a day with lukewarm water with a pinch of salt in it.
6. Soup – Serve your kid with hot soup (Prefer Chicken soup) as it helps in controlling cough by soothing the sour throat.
