Pt. B D Sharma Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Rohtak popularly known as Pt. B D Sharma PGIMS Rohtak. College started as guest institute at Medical College, Patiala. In 1963, the college was shifted to Rohtak to fulfill the high demand of medical education and health care services in this part of Haryana. The college was under the name of Medical College, Rohtak till 1994. In 1994, the name was changed to Pt. B.D. Sharma Medical College Rohtak and in 1995 the college became a PG institute so its name was changed to Pt. B.D. Sharma Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences Rohtak.

The college has a well equipped hospital with 1597 beds.  The institute complex also has Dental college and Hospital, Pharmacy College, college of Nursing and college of Physiotherapy.

The college campus of Pt. B D Sharma Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Rohtak (Haryana) is spread over 250 acres of area. The College has following facilities within its campus

The Dental College has a beautiful campus. College provides separate hostels for Boys and Girls for Undergraduate and post graduate students. College also has housing facilities for faculty, and other staff.

Institute library is open from 7 am to 9 pm during the summers and 9 am to 9 pm during the winters. Institute is also planning to upgrade the library to make it air conditioned. Library has 2 reading halls with capacity of 600.  of these 2 reading rooms, 1 is open from 7 am to 2 pm every day and has capacity of 400.

MBBS Admission Procedure and Eligibility for Admission – MBBS Course 2024 - 2025

The admission to Pt. B D Sharma Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Rohtak (Haryana) MBBS course will be through NEET UG exam. Admission to MBBS Courses in India in Medical Colleges approved by MCI is through NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY CUM ENTRANCE TEST (UG) [NEET (UG)] except for the institutions established through an Act of Parliament e.g. AIIMS and JIPMER Puducherry. As per regulations framed under the Indian Medical Council Act and the Dentists Act, NEET UG will be conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), for admission to MBBS and BDS Courses in India in Medical and Dental Colleges recognised and approved by Medical Council of India and Dental Council of India under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.

Admission to all MBBS seats of Pt. B D Sharma Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Rohtak (Haryana) and other Medical colleges in Haryana state is purely on the basis of merit. Candidates who have appeared in the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) and have cleared the NEET UG Exam conducted in the current academic year based on the NEET result are eligible for the admission.   • Department of Medical Education and Research, Government of Haryana or the body nominated by the department will release the official notification for seeking applications along with the detailed procedure and schedule
  • Candidate who want to apply for Medical courses in Haryana colleges have to apply online on the website of admission committee for the consideration of his candidature. Candidates have to submit the application or admission form within the time line released by the committee.
  • The department/Committee will prepare the result/merit list based on the NEET Score and other criterias. The merit list will be available on the website.
  • After declaration of merit list, selected candidates will be called for document verification and counselling/admission.
  • The department/Committee conducts two 2 rounds of counseling/ Seat Allocation and 1 MOP up admission

All government colleges have 15% of total seats for ALL India Quota. Medical Post Graduate Courses and PG Diploma Courses – Admission Procedure

As per Section (10) of Indian Medical Council Act 1956, Admission to various MD/MS and PG Diploma Courses in Medical Colleges approved by MCI in India is through NEET PG. National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test PG (NEET-PG) is the single eligibility cum entrance examination for admission to Postgraduate Medical Courses and PG Diploma Courses (MD/MS/PG Diploma Courses) in India.

Admission to PG courses of AIIMS, PGIMER, SGPGIMS, NIMHANS and JIPMER is not through NEET PG exam. Know more about NEET PG exam. Know about AIIMS Admission Procedure and JIPMER Admission procedure.

Please note state government, private dental college and universities including the states of Jammu & Kashmir, Telangana & Andhra Pradesh will NOT be conducting any separate entrance exam for admission to their MD/MS/PG Diploma Courses for the academic session 2024 - 2025.

Biggest medical centre of Haryana State with all major specialties. But staff is less in comparison of requirement. Paramedical staff is slow in emergency they don't have professional attitude towards patients. Doctors are good and facilities are available but crowd is too much.
