I have visited this place many times specially psychology department as I was under medication for mood swings, but what I saw is every doctor has his own view of thinking. Even my name is not written properly on the prescription paper. How can someone understand the patient if he/she is so careless? Yes the service is cheap as you get treatment for only Rs.10. for the paper in which the docter writes his views. But improvement is required. Still there are some brilliant doctors also, but rare to find. Overall a learning experience.

I was bit by a dog on Sunday, 26th Feb 2017, near Prithvi theatre, Juhu, around 10:30pm. I immediately went to the nearest hospital the auto guy could take me to, which was Dr. R N Cooper hospital and HBT medical college. They gave me a rabies vaccine along with TT. The Doctor gave the list of days to come to get the next dosage of medicines. I went today, on 1st March 2017 to the hospital at around 8:30 pm. The doctor in the emergency department refused to give me the dosage, saying that you should have come in the morning you cannot get it now. I asked him to make an exception as I would be travelling the next day and I would not get the time. He went in to check if it was possible. He came back and said No, I cannot waste five injections for one person. As I did not completely understand that, I asked him what the usual procedure was. He said, “The usual procedure madam, is to come on time”. I said okay, please tell me what would happen to me if I failed to take this dosage and he, very curtly, said “ Nothing”. I asked what his name was and the conversation went so: “Nehal” “Nehal what?” “Dr. Nehal” “Dr. Nehal what?” “Dr. Nehal Mehta” So I went to another hospital to get the injection but they asked me to get the name of the injection that was given to me so that they can administer the same dosage to me. I went back to the doctor at HBT Medical college and Dr. Cooper Hospital. Dr. Nehal (or portraying to be) gave me the name. Then Dr. Nehal Mehta says, “You have a lot of attitude. I would have helped you if you didn’t show so much attitude” I asked him to explain as to where I showed him attitude. He said this is an emergency department, not an OPD where you can come in and get any treatment. I said that I wasn’t made aware of the fact that I was supposed to come to the hospital at 8:30am to get the injection. He said, “How did you know to come today?” I said it was because the dates were written in my slip. There was no explanation given whatsoever of the “8:30am” written on the slip and the signboard outside was written in Marathi which would not have made me realise it either. He went on to say that I am now fighting because my purpose is served (getting the name of the injection) and that I am wasting everyone’s time and that I didn’t understand that there was a dead body behind of me, this isn’t an OPD and that he is only helping me out because I was a patient of this hospital. I reminded him that he is giving me the name of the injection because it was his social responsibility to do so. Dr. Nehal Mehta was the one who started talking about my attitude in the first place and created such a big issue out of it. He as a doctor has taken an oath to help his patients. It was possible for me to go to another hospital to buy the injection and take it because I was financially able to do so. Today he has denied me medical assistance (however small it may be), tomorrow he will refuse treatment to a person from a poor background. People will die and he will take advantage of his position as a doctor in a government hospital. I understand that government resources are not to be wasted and that I should have known better, but there was definitely a nicer way to tell me to go elsewhere and get the injection because it could not be done then.

Provides worst service. Doctors don't visit on time for round ups, does not inform the patients family on diagnosis and further steps. Even on asking questions they are least bothered to clarify. Patients not properly taken care of. Staff and nurses are very arrogant and unwilling to assist.
