Midland School accepts applications through the Standard Application Online (SAO) portal. Midland uses customized essay questions and students may opt to submit creative, non-written, responses to some prompts.
Midland School does not require academic tests (SSAT or similar) for admissions, but does require the TOEFL for international students. Successful applicants typically score a total of 85 or above on the TOEFL, demonstrating balanced proficiency across all four skills. Please note that Midland School does not provide English Language Learning (ELL/EAL) support services; applicants should expect an English immersive environment.
Another part of the application process is the student interview. This can be conducted in-person or virtually. Students who are able to visit the campus during sessions are able to take a family tour and attend a shadow day. A shadow day involves accompanying a current student to classes and lunch. International students can opt for a virtual tour.
Age Criteria for Admission
Midland School is an American high school offering grades 9 through 12. Grade 9 students are typically age 14 at the start of the school year in late August/early September. The age criteria corresponds with Indian classes 9 through 12 (secondary & upper secondary) or would be equivalent to four years of study for IGCSE & A-Levels.
Midland School accepts new transfer students in grades 10, 11, and 12 if space is available. However, due to the American system of reaching graduation by earning specific academic credits, we recommend that international students start in Grade 9 or the latest by Grade 10 in order to complete the graduation requirements.
