The immune system is the complex system of cells and proteins that protects our body against any incoming infection by producing antibodies. Antibodies are y-shaped protective proteins. For teens and growing adults, it is necessary to build a strong immune system because a building made with strong foundation lasts long. If you are not born with a strong immune system, then you can develop one by consuming some foods that are well-known for boosting immunity. Here is a list of such foods:

1. Citrus fruits like oranges, berries, limes and guavas are rich in vitamin C. Some green-leafy vegetables such as cabbage, broccoli, spinach, etc are also enriched with this essential vitamin. People who eat vitamin c rich foods tend to have stronger immunity than those who don't.

2. Besides using turmeric as a healing substance, turmeric is also used for fostering the immunity. It contains an active component 'curcumin' which makes it a powerful antioxidant.

3. Ginger, garlic and onion help boost the immunity because of the active compounds called flavonoids present in them.

4. We all are aware of the protein content in meat and fish whether its beef, chicken or mutton. Fishes contain omega fatty-3 acids which are beneficial in numerous ways. Besides tissue development, protein also boosts our immunity. In addition to that, the zinc, iron and omega fatty-3 acids present in lean meat and fish also strengthen our defence mechanism.

5. Low-sugar or no-added-sugar is recommended to include in diet as it contains probiotics, which help foster immunity.

It is best to meet the nutritional needs through dietary sources, but if not possible, then take supplements with the consultation of your doctors like protein drinks and multi-vitamins. But, make sure you workout too along with taking such supplements.
