I want to adopt a cat for my son. So, I want to know cat breeds for my family?

In India, we have some very famous breeds that have all the features of the perfect pet. Yet, it is always advised to not buy a cat from a breeder because you don't know how pure the breed is. Therefore, you should always adopt a cat from the shelter. Here are some famous breeds of cats available in India:

1. Himalayan cat: This breed is most common in India. They are medium to large. They are usually white but are available in other colours too.

2. Persian cat: These are also called Iranian cats as they belong to Iran. They have a cute round face and pale yellow eyes with long greyish or white hair.

3. The American Bobtail: This breed is not so common and known for its beautiful bobbed tail. This breed belongs to the US and is quite friendly. They have an athletic appearance.

4. Siamese cat: Their coating colour is creamy or light brown. Their origin is Shanghai. They have triangular head shape, oval paws and large ears. They are attention seeker and start crying if they are not given the required attention.

5. Bombay cat: This is an Asian breed and is known for its golden eyes and black shiny hair. They look like small black panthers.

6. Spotted cat: It is also called 'Indian Billi' as it is found in India and Sri Lanka. Spotted cat has small spots all over its body and has a long tail darker than its body colour. It is found in jillions in India.

7. Maine Coon: It is believed to be the oldest breed of cats. It belongs to Maine, New Englander. This well behaved and friendly cate has a thick coat, big round eyes and big paws.
