The Maharaja Krishna Chandra Gajapati Medical College & Hospital, Berhampur is popularly known as M.K.C.G. Medical College and Hospital. The college is named after the Late Maharaja of Parlakhemundi, Maharaja Krushna Chandra Gajapati. College motto is ” सर्वे संतु निरामया ॥” (Freedom from Sickness to all people).
The college started as extension to the SCB Medical College Cuttack. The College started functioning at its current location from 1962 and the hospital was attached to the college in 1966. The college was orginally called Berhampur MEdical college which was later renamed as Maharaja Krishna Chandra Gajapati Medical College & Hospital.
Teaching & Training Hospital Attached to the MKCG Medical college has 1140 beds and serves as a referral hospital for providing multispecialty tertiary patient care.

The admission to MKCG Medical College, Berhampur MBBS course will be through NEET UG exam. Admission to MBBS Courses in India in Medical Colleges approved by MCI is through NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY CUM ENTRANCE TEST (UG) [NEET (UG)] except for the institutions established through an Act of Parliament e.g. AIIMS and JIPMER Puducherry. National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test PG (NEET-PG) is the single eligibility cum entrance examination for admission to Postgraduate Medical Courses and PG Diploma Courses (MD/MS/PG Diploma Courses) in India.
