About NEET PG 2018- Postgraduate Medical Courses Entrance Examination

NEET-PG is an eligibility-cum-ranking examination, a single entrance examination to various MD/MS and PG Diploma Courses as per Section (10) of Indian Medical Council Act 1956. Know about colleges or universities offering Medical PG courses in India.

Scope of NEET PG

National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test PostGraduate (NEET-PG) exam is a single eligibility cum entrance examination for admission to Postgraduate Medical Courses. NEET PG is for admission to Post graduate course and will include the following

  1. All India 50% quota seats for MD, MS and PG Diploma courses, all states except Andhra Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir and Telangana.
  2. State quota seats for MD, MS and PG Diploma courses for all States/Union territories of India including the states of Andhra Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir and Telangana)
  3. MD, MS and PG Diploma courses at all Private Medical Colleges, Institutions & Universities/Deemed Universities all across the country
  4. MD, MS and PG Diploma courses at Armed Forces Medical Services Institutions.
  5. DNB Broad specialty courses

*PG seats of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are likely to be included in 50% All India Quota Seats 2018 subject to confirmation by the respective State Governments to MoHFW, Govt. of India.

Institutions not filled through NEET PG

The following Medical institutions in India are not covered by centralized admissions for MD, MS seats through NEET-PG

  1. AIIMS, New Delhi
  2. PGIMER, Chandigarh
  3. SGPGIMS, Lucknow
  4. JIPMER, Puducherry
  5. NIMHANS, Bengaluru
  6. Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Trivandrum

No state government /private medical college/universities including the states of Jammu & Kashmir, Telangana & Andhra Pradesh shall be conducting any separate entrance exam for admission to their MD/MS/PG Diploma Courses for the academic session 2018-2019.

Please note NEET-PG is a single window entrance examination for PG courses. No other entrance examination, either at state or institution level, shall be valid for entry to MD/MS/PG Diploma Courses as per the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 w.e.f. 2018 admission session.

Online Registration begins on 31st October 2017 from 03:00 PM onwards.
Online Registration and submission of application form must be completed by 27th November 2017 (by 11:59 PM).

Allocation of time for the NEET-PG 2018

Allocation of time for the NEET-PG 2018 shall be as follows:

NEET PG Entrance Exam Fees

Refer to below table for examination fees for NEET PG. The below fee is inclusive of examination fees and information bulletin. Students can pay the fees through Credit Card, Debit Card or through Internet Banking.

NEET PG Exam Pattern and Syllabus 2018

The syllabus of the exam shall be as per the latest Graduate Medical Education Regulations notified by the Medical Council of India with prior approval of the Govt. of India.

NEET PG Exam Pattern

  1. NEET PG examination will have multiple choice questions
  2. Exam will be conducted on computer based platform (CBT).
  3. The exam paper will have 300 Multiple Choices with one single correct response
  4. Questions will be in English language only.
  5. Time allotted is 3hr. 30 min.
  6. Negative marking: 1 mark deducted for every incorrect response, 4 marks for every correct response. In NEET PG 2017, There was no negative marking.
  7. Unattempted Question Zero marks

The syllabus for NEET-PG shall comprise of subjects/knowledge areas as per the Graduate Medical Education Regulations issued by Medical Council of India with prior approval of Government of India. Kindly refer to the MCI website www.mciindia.org for complete document.

NEET PG 2018 Cut off Score

The result of NEET-PG 2018 has been declared by NBE on 23rd January 2018.  In accordance with the eligibility criteria for admission to Post Graduate course as mentioned in the Information Bulletin for NEET-PG 2018, the cut off scores for various categories are per below table.

In accordance with Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India notification no. V.11025/05/2017-MEP dated 27th April, 2018, the minimum qualifying percentile has been revised for NEET-PG 2018 as follows:

NEET PG Result

The result of NEET-PG 2018 indicating the score obtained by each candidate
has been declared by NBE on 23/01/2018. The All India NEET-PG 2018 rank i.e. ranking of a candidate amongst all the appeared candidates, shall be declared by NBE by 15/02/2018.

TYPES OF MERIT LISTS

  1. NEET-PG 2018 rank: This is the overall merit position of the candidate amongst all the candidates who have appeared in the NEET-PG 2018
  2. All India 50% quota rank: This is the overall merit position of the candidate
    amongst all the candidates who have appeared in the NEET-PG 2018 for All
    India 50% quota and is valid only for All India 50% quota MD/MS/Post Graduate Diploma Courses (2018 admission session).
  3. All India 50% quota Category Rank: This is the overall merit position of the
    candidate in the category (OBC/SC/ST) as opted by the candidate in the
    NEET–PG 2018 for All India 50% quota and is valid only for All India 50% quota MD/MS/Post Graduate Diploma Courses (2018 admission session).
