As parents, we are often very concerned about our child, especially while observing certain symptoms like irritation, crankiness, or hyperactivity. We should know that all these symptoms in a child could be due to vitamin and nutrition’s deficiency. Your child needs to have a balanced diet, devoid of junk food, or processed foods so that your child can obtain all the nutrients necessary for the growth and development of your child.

Signs of Vitamin Deficiency in Children

Following are 5 signs of Vitamin Deficiency in your child

1. HYPERACTIVITY IN CHILD

Is your child always or half the time hyperactive, even when things are going well? Does your kid get too irritated with minor stuff? Well, it may be due to a lack of amino acids in your kid’s diet, which may not make certain brain neurotransmitters that produce serotonin and dopamine, which are calming hormones to reduce the hyperactivity in the child. Hence, it becomes necessary to include high biological value proteins in the diet of your child.

2. DELAYED SPEECH

Many times very often due to the deficiency of Vitamin B 12 in body, your kid might suffer from delayed speech. Sources of Vitamin B 12 include most of the non-veg foods like meat, chicken, fish, eggs, and various seafood. Therefore many of the vegetarians are seen to suffer from vitamin B 12 deficiency and delayed speech.

3. OBESITY

Your child, who is obese, might seem that he contains a lot of nutrients. Well, do not just go on the outer appearance. Too many fat cells inhibit the absorption of various nutrients needed by your child. Hence make your child avoid too much trans fat in your child’s diet or a diet, which is very rich in processed foods like pizzas and burgers, which seem delicious but are hazardous for health.

4. GUT ISSUES

Does your child often suffer from various gut issues like diarrhoea or constipation? Well, lack of probiotics in your child’s diet like curd or buttermilk may increase the bad gut flora, which may make your child prone to various infections like diarrhoea. Lack of fibre in your child’s diet may get your child to suffer from constipation. Thus do include a good quantity of fibre diet of your child, which can be obtained from various sources of fruits and green leafy vegetables containing a lot of soluble as well as insoluble fibre.

5. DRY HAIR

One of the possibilities of dry hair in children could be due to lack of various kinds of fat-soluble vitamins in the diet of your child like Vitamin A, Vitamin D, Vitamin E and Vitamin K. Hence it becomes very essential to include fat-soluble vitamins in the diet of your child for example cod liver oil or almonds, walnuts and flaxseeds. Flaxseeds can obtain in the whole, ground, roasted, or either raw form, ultimately depending upon your child’s preference. If taken with curd, it may enhance the good gut health, which is a good source of probiotics.
