History

NameCuriumPlutonium
HistoryThe element Curium was discovered by G. T. Seaborg, R. A. James and A. Ghiorso in year 1944 in United States. Curium derived its name from Pierre Curie, a physicist, and Marie Curie, a physicist and chemist, named after great scientists by analogy with gadolinium. The element Plutonium was discovered by Glenn T. Seaborg,Arthur C. Wahl,W. Kennedy and E.M. McMillan in year 1940 in United States. Plutonium derived its name from Pluto, a dwarf planet in the Solar System (then considered the ninth planet).
